"Vancouver
Walking Tours offers walking tours for those visitors who
really want to see and experience Vancouver up close!"
There are many incredible attractions and sounds that cannot
be experienced through a moving tour bus window; so why not
get out of the bus and experience Vancouver first hand.

Where else in the world can you be in the midst of such a
cosmopolitan city, but yet be just minutes away from some of the
finest wilderness and outdoor recreational areas in the world.
Most tour companies whisk their clients around the city of
Vancouver which results in a less than personal experience. In
many cases the real Vancouver is missed and the client leaves with
a hands off experience of Vancouver. With this in mind Vancouver
Walking Tours have developed a series of city and back to nature
walking tours that will leave the client with a more personal
experience. At the end of a Vancouver Walking Tour the client will
be able to say that they really saw, felt and heard Vancouver.
If you are an adventurer and enjoy walking, then a Vancouver
Walking Tour is for you. Vancouver Walking Tours has designed it's
tours to include both the serenity of the wilderness and the
excitement of Vancouver City.

On the North side of Burrard Inlet lies Vancouver's North
Shore. On the North Shore there is a series of local mountains
which form the backdrop for the whole Lower Mainland. In the lower
valley of one of these mountains is Lynn Canyon. Lynn Canyon is a
popular spot with locals and tourists alike. Every year thousands
of people flock to the pools of Lynn Canyon to cool of during the
hot summer months, and some of the braver ones will dive off the
cliffs and into a pool known as Thirty Foot.
To get there we must enter Lynn Canyon Park, and cross over
Lynn Canyon Suspension bridge over Lynn Creek. Once over the other
side a trail will take us along the side of the canyon up to the
Thirty Foot Pool. Backtracking about half a kilometre, we will
head east out of the park and into the Seymour Watershed area.
This area once use to be out of bounds for just about everyone
until about ten years ago. That's when it was opened up as the
Seymour Demonstration Forest.
The vehicle traffic is restricted to a few work crews and to
the occasional movie crew. A short distance into the Demonstration
Forest will make you realize why this area must remain protected.
We will arrive at the gate house and start our hike (eleven
kilometres each way).
This is an area that most tourists may not see, so for those
that do venture here it will remain an incredible memory. The next
portion of the hike, which is mostly flat, takes us past Rice Lake
and then onto the Demonstration Forest Road. You'll be surrounded
by all new growth timber and other flora. The area is home to many
animals such as deer, coyotes, wild rabbits, black bear, and deer.
The Seymour river meanders through this valley and is home to five
kinds of salmon and Steelhead trout.
At the half way point (5.5 kilometres), there is a lookout
station where there is a great view of the Seymour Valley.
Continuing on to the Seymour Dam, one of Vancouver's three main
water suppliers. From there the trail leads us to the Seymour
Hatchery where you will get a first hand look at the salmon life
cycle. Ending our tour at our original starting point at Lynn
Canyon Park. |
