Whale Watch San Juan Excursions |
The San Juan Islands abound with wildlife, including pods of Orca Whales. The Orca Whale is featured in
both movies "Free Willy" and "Free Willy 2". Our U.S.C.G. documented research vessel.
"Malia Kai" was
selected for use during the filming of "Free Willy 2" to transport cast and crew throughout the San Juan
Islands. The "Malia Kai" was especially designed for excursions, with excellent visibility from an all
around deck, inside seating, and a private marine toilet. We maintain a library of nature books for kids and
adults. We also offer snacks, beverages, film and cameras, as well as souvenir hats and shirts. |
Experienced the thrill of observing Orca Whales in their natural habitat. See Minke whales, porpoises,
eagles, otters, seals and numerous varieties of seabirds. All cruises are accompanied by a Certified
Naturalist to point out and interpret the behaviour of the specific animals sighted, and answer your
questions. Our excursions last 3 1/2 to 4 hours. We suggest layered clothing, a jacket, camera and
binoculars. Viewing of Orcas is not guaranteed every day, but an encounter is highly likely. We have an
underwater hydrophone aboard to enable all to "listen" to the whales. |
